Salinity and Chloride Monitoring in South Florida
Salinity and Chloride Data, Sites in Broward County, Florida, Florida
Site status is calculated based on the latest chloride concentration and the rate of change in recent concentrations.
The most recent chloride concentration is shown, in comparison with:
Also shown is an "up" or "down" arrow for increasing or decreasing concentrations, respectively, based on the last 5 years of samples available for comparison. "Stable" concentrations, less than 0.01 mg/l/year change, are represented by omitting the arrow symbol. Annual change in concentration is estimated using a modified Mann-Kendall Test, having a 5 percent relative percent difference threshold used for determining increasing/decreasing values in place of the 0.01 ft precision threshold used elsewhere on this site for water-level elevation data.
Metadata, for the site location GIS coverage used to create the map, is available in FGDC and HTML formats. A KML file for the stations shown on the map is also available. (Right-click link to download file.)
Postscript and Adobe PDF versions of the map are available for printing. The Adobe Reader program is available, at no cost, from Adobe. When viewed as a PDF file, the map image may be re-sized for viewing or printing.
Funding for the USGS to design and maintain this site has been provided through a cooperative agreement with the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD). Water-level conditions are monitored by the USGS with support from Federal, State, and local cooperators.
